Lavendon Group, Leicestershire, England, last week announced a 2009 loss before tax of £47.75 million (US$72.2 million) compared to a profit of £22.51 million (US$34.05 million) the previous year. This included exceptional items of £58.17 million (US$87.99 million). Exception items in 2008 were £3.60 million (US$5.45). Revenues fell 13 percent to £226.89 million (US$343.24 million) from £259.77 million (US$392.99 million) a year ago, reflecting decline in revenues from European businesses, partially offset by continued growth in Middle East business.
