As part of the streamlined schedule for The Rental Show 2010 in Orlando, Fla., educational seminars have been scheduled for today and tomorrow before the trade show opens.

The seminar schedule includes:

Tuesday, Feb. 9
8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

  • Smart Communication in Tough Times. Mark Jeffries of Mark Jeffries, New York, will teach attendees how to use the power of language to plant an idea as well has understanding meeting etiquette and “techniquette” — the etiquette of technology.
  • The Top Five Strategies for Web Site Success. Philippa Gamse of Total Net Value, Capitola, Calif., will cover five key ways to improve your Web site including internal and external applications.
  • Successful Selling: The Answers Are All Four-Letter Words. Robert Stevenson of Seeking Excellence, Clearwater, Fla., will break down the art and science of selling into a set of guidelines to help even the most novice salesperson succeed.
  • Challenges Facing the Construction Rental Industry and What to do About Them. Ted Garrison, Garrison Associates, Ormond Beach, Fla., will focus on how to differentiate your company and eliminate the competition when the nation comes out of the recession.
  • Aerial Work Platforms. ARA and the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) have collaborated to create a statement of best practices for aerial work platform (AWP) equipment. This rental industry panel discussion will cover the difference between familiarization and operator training, the rental company’s obligations under ANSI standards and training guidelines for operators of AWP equipment.
  • Rental Town Hall: Party and Event Rental. The ARA Foundation’s Rental Executive Advisory Program (REAP) is sponsoring this lively, interactive exchange featuring a panel of rental experts answering questions from the audience.

Wednesday, Feb. 10
8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

  • Thriving in the Economic Storm: How to Reinvigorate Your Business and Achieve Sustained Success in These Challenging Times. Robin Crow, The Crow Co., Franklin, Tenn., will offer street-smart advice from his years of business experience including how to accelerate growth, find solutions and deal with setbacks.
  • Customer Service: How to Apply the Diamond Touch. Nate Booth, Nate Booth and Associates, Las Vegas, will explain why your company should follow the “diamond rule” — treat others in the unique way they want to be treated — to create beneficial customer relationships that prosper.
  • Behind the Magic: Disney’s Approach to Brand Loyalty. Nicole Lauria from the Disney Institute will share business practices to build a loyalty connection with customers, identify your brand, develop employee enthusiasm and more. No one under the age of 16 is permitted to attend any Disney Institute program.
  • Developing Business Partnerships to Help You Succeed. This panel discussion will cover how to develop and use partnerships with bankers, lawyers and accountants to your advantage, including tips on how to find these partners, the right questions to ask, what to expect and how to present your equipment rental business to obtain financing.
  • Rental Town Hall: Construction and General Tool Rental. Sponsored by the ARA Foundation’s Rental Executive Advisory Program (REAP), this interactive session will include a panel of successful rental professionals answering questions from the audience.
