CBS news reports the advantages of do-it-yourself rental equipment, provides link to RentalHQ.com

On Sept. 25 the CBS Early Show, featuring Danny Lipford of Today’s Homeowner, broadcast a special segment about the advantages of renting equipment for home improvement projects. Lipford demonstrated a paint sprayer, wallpaper steamer, electric pressure washer, a garden tiller and an electric chain saw, giving the approximate costs of buying these expensive machines compared with the estimated costs of renting them for occasional use. ARA member Jeff Miller of Miller’s Tool Rental and Sales, Brooklyn, N.Y. loaned the equipment for the segment and assisted Lipford and CBS with production. Lipford explained how renting each machine saves homeowners money and time, saying the wallpaper steamer “makes the job of removing old paper much easier” and that a paint sprayer “cuts a painting job to at least half the time.” He instructed viewers to follow safety instructions with equipment that potentially is dangerous, such as a pressure washer that “can gouge wood or cut through skin,” and an electric chain saw that the customer “should never use when tired or without gloves and safety goggles.” He also recommended that homeowners rent tools from dealers who are members of the American Rental Association. The CBS web site at www.CBSNEWS.com provided a link to ARA’s consumer web site at www.RentalHQ.com, where viewers could find information about doing a number of home improvement and do-it-yourself projects, as well as use the Store Locator Service to locate ARA member stores in their areas. By noon Sept. 25, RentalHQ.com received more than 22,000 store views. It averages about 300 store views a day. If you rent DIY equipment, it’s possible you’ll attract a customer from this publicity on your free ARA online home page. Is your store’s information up-to-date at RentalHQ.com?
