| It appears that perhaps some of Kelly Murphy’s finest event products from her Panache Party Rentals in Pompano Beach, Fla., were featured on ABC’s Regis and Kelly show last week, just days after Donald Trump wed supermodel Melania Knauss on Jan. 22. Murphy didn’t see the program for herself, but she said word is that a place setting of the china, crystal, base plates and flatware she supplied for the Trump nuptial celebrations were exhibited on the national TV program by a guest at the wedding.
Murphy’s not exactly sure how the place setting ended up on national TV from the reception at Mar-a-Largo’s new $42 million ballroom where the happy couple dined and toasted their marriage with their 400 closest friends. Outside of the unexpected national exposure following the wedding, Murphy says it was business as usual, a lovely event with fine things, but nothing beyond the normal call of duty.
“It was very simple from our end,” says Murphy. “It was just like any other event except that it was Donald Trump’s wedding.”
Besides tabletop essentials, which complemented floral arrangements by acclaimed designer Preston Bailey, Panache provided 4-by-8 “royal side tables,” extra-wide banquet tables to accommodate some 400 reception attendees.
The bride did all the choosing for the event, says Murphy, and the look was elegant with golds, ivories and whites, but, adds Murphy, not flamboyant. Damask underlays were used with silk woven overlays in a study in neutrals. Flowers were the focal point.
“Originally they wanted to purchase everything but they couldn’t because some things we offer exclusively--they fell in love with what we had and now they want to have it at Mar-a-Largo,” Murphy says.
Panache retrieved all its rented items the day after the wedding--except for the pieces that surfaced on television--and has ordered new sets for the Trumps.
Murphy’s company is a preferred vendor for Mar-a-Largo, Trump’s private Palm Beach estate, and also has a regular working relationship with Preston Bailey. Panache’s Suzie Halpern was the key liaison for the event. |
