NUSSLI, Mooresville, Ind., has installed additional grandstand systems to be used at U.S. Open 2010 golf tournament in Pebble Beach, Calif., scheduled for June 14-20.
The company constructed grandstands with thousands of seats with 24 different systems throughout the golf course. The work was completed in seven weeks by a crew of 20 workers, involving a project manager, chief assembly technician, three assembly technicians from NUSSLI and 15 lab workers.
“We are very proud to be able to supply the U.S. Open 2010 with temporary grandstands. The assembly of event infrastructures for this type of first-class event requires a lot of sensitivity. The biggest challenge during installation was logistics. With great care and strategy, the material had to be transported on the narrow paths of the golf course,” said Steven Moody, NUSSLI’s project manager.
The company used custom-made trailers that fit the narrow paths and also were designed to transport heavy loads to ensure that the golf course and the surroundings were not affected by the assembly process. After the trophy has been awarded, the additional grandstands will be disassembled by NUSSLI.
