02/05/2012

JLG, McConnellsburg, Pa., a division of Oshkosh Corp., Oshkosh, Wis., reported that aerial equipment sales to external customers increased 73.8 percent year-over-year to $505.1 million for the first quarter of fiscal 2012 compared to the prior year first quarter. The company said it saw double-digit sales increases in all regions of the world and across all product lines.

JLG said the results were driven by replacement of aged equipment in North America and parts of Europe as well as economic growth and increased product adoption in emerging markets. Including sales to the defense segment, access equipment segment sales increased 91.8 percent year-over-year for the first quarter.

JLG reported operating income of $13.1 million, or 2.1 percent of sales, for the first quarter of fiscal 2012 compared to an operating loss of $16.7 million, or 5.1 percent of sales, in the first quarter of 2011.
